Marijampole is seventh largest city of Lithuania. It is located in the southwest of the country, only 56 km from Kaunas. Every Lithuanian
knows that Marijampole – the unofficial capital of Sūduva. The city‘s territory covers 2050,7 hectares and is divided into two parts by river Šešupė. Parks on the city are conected with each other by 6 bridges. The city rose the famous historical personalities who was born, studied and worked here. Today Marijampole is know for the word famous singer Violeta Urmana who spent her childhood here. Citiziens are proud of football team and stadium, monks of the Marians and exclusive local dialect.
Things to do in Marijampole
Visite the cognitive Bukta path located in Bukta forest district, Želsva botanical – zoological rezerve, Žuvintas biosphere reserve.
Walking around the vivid parks, the main J. Basanavičius square where all the beauty of the city dehisce. There you can see art murals on city walls, a monument dedicated to the memory of V. Kernagis, other monuments.
